DETONATE - Countdown at the Museum

Alton Town Museum hides a sinister secret – a bomb planted by a vengeful mastermind seeking retribution. What starts out as a guided tour quickly turns into a high-stakes race against time. With priceless artefacts and lives on the line, your team must solve puzzles and complete challenges to locate and defuse the bomb before disaster strikes. The pressure is on, and every second counts. Can you save the day, or will the bomb detonate?

What age is DETONATE suitable for?

DETONATE is PG‑rated, so the majority of players should be 7 years or older. Younger children can take part as part of an older family‑or‑friends group, provided a responsible adult is in the room and is comfortable with sudden sounds, brief darkness and mild “race‑against‑time” suspense.

As with all our rooms, players under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Does the game include smoke, darkness, or other atmospheric effects?

Yes. Detonate uses dramatic lighting changes and loud sound effects during key moments to enhance immersion. However, there are no strobe lights or smoke effects. If you have concerns sensory effects, please let us know in advance.

Is prior knowledge of Alton and its history required?

Nope! While the setting is inspired by a fictional museum in Alton, all the clues and puzzles provide the necessary information to save yourselves and the museum. No outside knowledge is needed.

What sort of escape room is this?

Detonate is a stop-the-bomb adventure. It combines logic puzzles, physical challenges and teamwork to create a really immersive experience. Your mission: work together to disarm a bomb hidden in the Alton Town Museum before time runs out!

How physical is this escape room?

Detonate is not physically demanding. There is no heavy lifting or crawling, but teamwork and coordination are key. There’s a comfy chair too, if you want to have a little rest mid-game.

Will we really blow up if we don’t disarm the bomb?

I guess there’s only one way to find out!
